Over 20 types of vulnerable roadway users in MA crash reports were sorted into three categories by general speed:
Pedestrians
includes wheelchair users and similar slow-speed devices.
Cyclists/Micro
includes bicyclists, skaters, micromobility users, and similar medium-speed devices.
Other
includes motorized bicycles and motorized scooters (as defined by MA General Law), mopeds, and similar higher-speed devices, plus 'Other' and 'Unknown' and uncommon labels that did not neatly fit into the prior categories (such as train/trolley passenger).
Also, crashes involving two or more categories in the data table appear as the 'Other' symbol on the map.
